Critical Minerals Intervention with AMCHAM and industry leaders

As 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗮 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗛𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗱, we recognize the transformative role of critical minerals, particularly rare earth elements (REE), in shaping the global landscape of environmental sustainability, economic prosperity, and technological innovation. Our recent dialogue with the Malaysian Parliamentary Caucus for Critical Minerals (the Caucus) and American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) underscores our commitment to fostering a strategic understanding of Malaysia’s critical minerals landscape and its implications on national development.

𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀

𝘚𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘤 𝘐𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘔𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘺𝘴𝘪𝘢: With abundant critical mineral resources and a strategic location in Southeast Asia, Malaysia is poised to emerge as a key player in the global critical minerals supply chain.

𝘖𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘊𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯: We are excited about the prospect of Malaysia’s potential invitation to join the Minerals Security Partnership (MSP), an initiative aimed at accelerating the development of sustainable critical energy minerals supply chains. Collaboration with MSP and other international partners presents opportunities to strengthen Malaysia’s role in critical minerals value chains.

𝘐𝘯𝘧𝘳𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘐𝘯𝘷𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘐𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘴: Malaysia’s participation in the Partnership for Global Infrastructure (PGI) reflects our commitment to advancing high-standard infrastructure and attracting global investments. Through PGI, we aim to mobilize significant resources to strengthen and diversify supply chains, aligning with our national security interests.

𝘉𝘪𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘊𝘰𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘜𝘚: The engagement with AMCHAM and US stakeholders highlights the importance of Malaysia-US bilateral trade and diplomatic relations in addressing global geopolitical challenges. Direct engagement with the legislative branch, complementing efforts at the executive level, demonstrates a shared commitment to enhancing strategic autonomy and cooperation in critical minerals.
