Thulsi Manogaran is a Stateassemblyman for Buntong in Ipoh and she is lawyer. Inspired at a young age by her father, Thulsi has dedicated her life to public service and activism. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Universiti Malaya.
Thulsi has accumulated extensive experience in both legal practice and political service. She served as a Special Officer to former Deputy Education Minister Teo Nie Ching from 2018 to February 2020. An active member of the Democratic Action Party (DAP) since 2014. Her commitment to human rights advocacy is evident through her work with NGOs and her experience as a researcher with renowned lawyer and activist Dato’ Seri Ambiga. Additionally she serves as committee member and Legal Bureau Chief for the Youth Wing of DAP Perak as well as assistant organising secretary for DAP Wanita national committee.
Elected as the ADUN for Buntong in 2022, Thulsi secured a decisive majority. Her success in this role underscores her strong leadership and advocacy skills, as well as her ability to engage effectively with the community. Thulsi’s legal expertise, particularly in human rights, education and public service, further enhances her capacity to serve her constituents.
Thulsi is driven by a philosophy of equality, justice, and community service. She believes in transparent governance and the power of grassroots activism to effect change. She believes that politicians and politics must move away from bare minimum efforts to just gain mileage by posing for photos. Efforts must be extraordinary to uplift communities and build lives.
