Dato’ Cheong Peak Sooi is a seasoned executive with extensive experience in civil engineering, business management, and operations. Currently serving as the Executive Director of Perak Transit Berhad, Dato’ Cheong plays a pivotal role in overseeing the company’s strategic direction and day-to-day operations. He is also the Director of CKS Maju Sdn Bhd and a director at The Combined Bus Services Sdn Bhd.
Dato’ Cheong’s career began in 1992 as a site manager for G&C Civil Engineering Pte Ltd in Singapore. His responsibilities included site management, client liaison, and project supervision. In 2000, he joined Ameron Pte Ltd as a field service representative, where he excelled in client relations, proposal preparation, and quality assurance.
In 2008, Dato’ Cheong transitioned to a leadership role at Star Kensington Sdn Bhd, managing petrol station operations. His tenure there further honed his skills in operational management and strategic planning. Later that year, he joined The Combined Bus Services Sdn Bhd, where he has been instrumental in supervising and monitoring the construction and operation of key transit terminals such as Terminal Meru Raya and Terminal Kampar Putra.
As an Executive Director of Perak Transit Berhad since October 2012, Dato’ Cheong has been a driving force behind the company’s success, contributing significantly to its risk management strategies. He holds a Certificate in Business Management from MDIS Business School, Singapore, obtained in 1988.
Dato’ Cheong’s dedication and leadership have been crucial in positioning Perak Transit Berhad as a leading player in the public transportation sector in Malaysia.
